James Francis Wilkins

Author and illustrator with long, varied career. Born in Bristol as youngest of four brothers he studied painting at Chelsea School of Art and film technique at the London Film School. Worked in the animation industry, including special effects for Stanley Kubricks ‘2001 – a Space Odyssey’ and Halas & Batchelor, the leading animation studio in London.

Worked 22 years in Germany where he created a topical strip-cartoon which ran in newspapers across the country. In Britain he published a book of cartoons ‘101 uses for a hereditary peer’. From this grew the idea for ‘The Queen & Mr Brown ‘ stories with the Queen, one of the most famous women in the world, as his heroine. He portrays her affectionately and hopes she forgives him. He lives in Greece.
