The original story in which the Queen and Mr Brown visit the Natural History Museum. It is the Queen’s day off and the weather is miserable with wet falling snow. She decides they will walk to the museum to visit the dinosaurs. Mr Brown is fed up before they get there. They spend the morning looking at exhibits then sit on a bench for a rest. The Queen falls asleep and dreams of Ascot races. She dreams she is taking part in a race for dinosaurs. She is about to win when another dinosaur comes from behind to beat her. It is ridden by Mr Brown. He is presented with the Ascot Dinosaur Derby  winner’s trophy. As they leave the museum she wonders why the dinosaurs really did die out. ‘It’s because they went out in weather like this!’ Mr Brown thinks angrily.

The Queen and Mr Brown have arranged to meet the animals in front of  the museum in Cromwell Road. They are amazed  when a trap door opens next to them and Polar Bear and Toucan rise from the pavement. They are taken below the museum  to Conkerdor the space transporter and invited to climb aboard. When they discover that they will be taken to meet a family of rats living in a rubbish dump they are not delighted. But the rats are utterly charming and they share a meal. There is a problem with Conkerdor’s heating system and they are rescued by a whale who takes them to the surface. They return immediately to the museum feeling shocked and shaken. Mr Brown is relieved to be back in London and he now even loves the rain.  And the Queen has a great story to tell her grandchildren.
